Nazareth Wynnum Masterplan
Standing proudly atop Wynnum’s highest hill, Nazareth House Wynnum has been providing aged care support for over 100 years. Through a combination of extensive, yet sensitive, masterplanning and delivery of a new aged care facility, our modern design for this iconic ‘castle on the hill’ exemplifies Nazareth’s commitment to care.
Sitting at the centre of an 11-hectare site atop the highest point of Wynnum, Nazareth House overlooks the bay, city, and port with 360-degree views. Prior to our involvement, Nazareth House consisted of the heritage-listed Chapel and St Mary’s, which, along with sprawling annexes created over the last 50 years, is home to over 120 aged care residents.
The new masterplan for the site sees the ad-hoc annexes removed, giving breathing space back to the magnificent heritage buildings. A new purpose-built 150-bed aged care facility (RACF), along with 200 independent living units, is proposed for the site. The position and heights of these different precincts carefully works with the heritage site lines and curtilages, a site topography that falls up to 20m across the site, and consideration to demolition, staging and decanting.
