Waterloo Junction
Waterloo Junction is a 1.5 ha Fortitude Valley gateway site and a redevelopment of aging retail and warehouse outlets It will have three distinctive buildings incorporating many green elements in the Green Heart with visually active retail edges. It will be a highly permeable site of pedestrian and cyclist thoroughfares and strong visual connections.
Waterloo Junction Stage 1 is a successfully tenanted six level office block with secure basement car parking, strett leel retail and incorporates the refurbished Waterloo Hotel. Stages 2–4 will commence construction in 2011.
A mid-block link from Stratton St to Ann St provides a safe public domain and successfully integrates the development into the urban context in line with Urban Renewal Brisbane’s guidelines.
The mix of uses will strengthens major public transport links and extends the special entertainment precinct buffer. By complementing Council’s neighbourhood plan, Cottee Parker Architects have delivered successful outcomes to Watpac in a progressive consultative process.
