QLD Rail Ipswich Office Fitout

As part of the Queensland Rail programme to centralise regional staffing, Ipswich was identified as a major office centre to initially cater for 50 and over 200 staff to eventually be located in the growing regional hub. The first stage of accommodation was fast tracked with completion before the end of 2010.

Cottee Parker Interiors was engaged for design services at the start of October. A 12 week programme to design, document and construct the fitout was achieved by implementing a proactive and innovative approach.

Working collaboratively with the Project Manager from engagement, Cottee Parker presented 3 test fit planning options of the space based on existing site conditions and Queensland Rail’s accommodation standards. A preferred option was chosen and presented as a return brief to the various user groups locating staff at the new facility. Schematic Design Sign off was achieved in 3 days.

Innovation was used in the documentation to enable the project to maintain it’s momentum. The major time saving being through utilising our 3D Archicad platform as part of the documentation process to provide 3D images of the joinery with supporting plans and elevations reducing the overall documentation time to 2 weeks.

The project was completed on the 17th December 2010, 1 week early, and under budget.
