Jindalee Church

The brief for the new Jindalee Church was to create a new gathering space. The new church increased the congregation capacity from 250 to 650, and delivered areas for parish administrative activities and offices.

The new Church has been positioned dominantly on the site. It creates a congrous but noticeable landmark for the community across a sports oval from the road and the internal approach has maintained and enhanced a soft natural bushland feel. This side both nestles into the hillside and showcases a striking natural pedestrian entry point.

Internally, different spatial experiences have been explored through the narthex, the colonnade, and outdoor seating area. The central atrium allows natural light to bathe the main alter area as well as efficiently vent the large main congregation area.

Two extremely large fans are visually less obtrusive than the multi-fan alternative and provide an economical and efficient circulation of air for the comfort of parishioners.
