Gold Coast Institute of TAFE

Cottee Parker Architects designed a 618 bed village and a 300+ student facility intended as a distinctly Australian experience for international students. A series of buildings step down through the bushland setting to form a series of flexible shared spaces.

Shading, insulation and shelter are provided through lightweight cladding on the masonry structure, wide overhangs and attached sunshades on windows and a façade trellis provides privacy to and from adjoining properties.

The passive environmental initiatives combine with technology to deliver a cost benefit to the client and users alike.

Security and access issues were addressed through careful wayfinding planning, a guided path and enhanced bushland landscaping. Local traffic relationships were improved by revising the existing vehicular site access points.
