Darra Chapel

The original Darra Chapel was built in the early 1920′s, and has played a significant role for the community of Darra.

The brief for this refurbishment required that, while the services and capacity were to be significantly upgraded, the existing Chapel identity should be retained. This led to a planning resolution maintaining the same axis and sequence of spaces. The original spaces have been complimented with indoor and outdoor areas that create a new focal point for the chapel. They also establish a closer relationship with the built form context, and create a more pleasant spatial experience.

Originally the Chapel has a capacity for 120 parishioners, the extension has increased this to 370.
