Centro on James
Centro on James was a successful and innovative major urban renewal project that transformed the former Coca Cola factory site into a dynamic retail and Commercial precinct. It was completed in three stages.
In stage 1 varied facade treatments created distinct identities for the separate elements while carefully integrated landscaping provides a central trellis and pedestrian link to join with the second and third stages across James Street. Tenants were quickly secured to enable stage 2 to proceed promptly.
Stage 2 is comprised of 6 lots, each with a different focus and attracting a wide variety of tenants. While having individual identity stage 2 complements the first stage in colour and texture and the whole remains coherent through consistency in landscaping and architectural detail.
Stage 3 is the well known James Street face of Centro with a successful high profile street front signature space. The retail, bar, restaurant and cinema frontages form a highly visible and active hub that is pedestrian dominant. The immediate area and arrangement are an attractive visual reference for the wider precinct.
