Shem is a registered architect with 20 years of practice experience across a diverse range of project typologies. He is engaged in the design process from inception to project delivery and has strong communication, design and client management skills. He has a strong interest in the role architecture plays in the public realm and projects that have a social and public purpose.

His design approach is thorough and collaborative, actively engaging with the pragmatics of the project and its site, to develop a response and outcome that is contextual, rational and poetic. History, heritage and the story of a place is a founding principle to his design approach, he is an associate member of the Australia ICOMOS.

Alongside an architectural skillset, Shem also has experience and skills in the design workshop process, and facilitation, community design and urban design. Most recently his project work has focussed on the education sector, both public and private sector.

He has particular expertise with Special School projects. Within his collection of projects, he has been awarded an AIA Award for Glenelg Street South Bank (Urban Design) and the Water Street Drill Hall (Heritage Architecture).
