Belinda Douglas Appointed to Lead Seniors & Retirement Living Design

After two decades specialising in Seniors and Retirement Living, Belinda Douglas has been appointed as the practices’ Sector Leader and newest Senior Associate.

Belinda’s focus will be navigating the complex challenges of the sector, working with our developer and operator clients to drive better design outcomes that are adaptive to an ageing population.

“Governments and key groups are advocating for “Ageing in Place” but there is separation between the sectors within Seniors Living that are barriers to this happening: physical locations and built infrastructure, funding, care and profit models. We need to explore opportunities to truly age in place, one place that adapts to changing need where independence and care evolves as you do.”

As a founding and current committee member for the industry body ‘Places for Ageing Australia’ and an active advocate for advancement across the sector, Belinda is a welcomed addition to our international design team. Succeeding David Frost, who has transitioned to a consultancy role, Belinda brings over 20 years of experience in the industry, many of which were with Fulton Trotter Architects.

Belinda takes pride in delivering projects that are embraced by communities, and her in-depth knowledge of collaborating and responding to the needs of key stakeholders will be an invaluable asset to our Seniors Living sector.

“We know that the discontinuation of bed licences within the RACF industry will increase competition across the board. Belinda’s appointment as our Sector Leader strengthens the practice’s ability to back great design with a strong commercial focus, meeting the growing expectations across Retirement Living and Aged Care environments.”
